News About Sarah Anderson
POSTED: February 13, 2010

Shared by Kristin William
I have some news I want to share about one of our STAR Members!

As you know, one of the objectives in starting the Coalition's Website was to create a vehicle for sharing news and
accomplishments of our members. In this case,
it is all good news concerning a long standing dedicated
member -- SARAH ANDERSON.
In case you missed reading the tribute as written in the February 10th Edition of
the Smithfield Herald-Clayton/Garner Edition, I want to share it with you.

Sarah was featured for receiving this year's LACY RUTH COATES AWARD from the Democratic Women of
Johnston County.  The award honors outstanding leadership and contributions to the Democratic Party and
to Johnston County.  She is the immediate Past President of the Democratic Women of Johnston County and
the President-Elect of the Democratic Women of North Carolina.

In addition to being a member of our YWCJCC Coalition, she is also a member of the Johnston County
Citizen's Association. If that is not enough, Sarah serves on the Board of the Mental Health Association of
Johnston County, and in year 2008 was  appointed by the County Commissioners to the Juvenile Crime
Prevention Council.  She was a founding member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Clayton, and the
founder of a local chapter of Mothers Offering Mothers Support. She has been a volunteer with Girl Scouts
and Meals on Wheels.

A graduate of Meredith College and NC State University, Sarah works at Selma Middle School where she
serves as the Coordinator of electives for the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), a Program
designed to increase the number of young people who go on to college.

For all her accomplishments and the many ways she serves the citizens of Johnston County, we
congratulate Sarah and we are proud that she is a Member of our Coalition.

We invite all our members who receive special recognitions to please let us know so that we can share it with
everyone by way of Email and by posting the accomplishment on the "Members Corner" of our Website as well --

He currently serves on the Executive Board and holds the position of
Regional Coordinator, Region 1 -- Eastern Johnston County.

He hosted the Coalition's fifth and final Regional Community Hall Meeting
covering Princeton, Pine Level, and Micro on Thursday, January 21, 2010.

In the span of only 49 years, I have since learned that Walter has even more accomplishments.
He is a member of the  Princeton Area Men's Club and
President of the Johnston Conty Law Enforcement Officers Association.

He is a past member of the Boy Scouts of America serving as Scout Leader.

We applaud Walter for his life work in community service and for his
