- To Establish a Special Education Program at a private college leading to a B.S. and M.S. in Special Education.
Norwood Williams has agreed to design the Program. Also, he and another retired Professor have agreed to teach the
courses probono. This will result in partnerships with colleges, public schools, civic organizations, and volunteers.
- To Award eight merit based $500 scholarships to needy college bound high school seniors or students enrolled at
JCC who have an interest in Special Education. Businesses, civic clubs, and mental health associations will be invited to
participate in sponsoring these scholarships.
- To Coordinate closely with the Continuing Education Program at Johnston Community College to promote the
availability and accessibility of programs for those with special needs.
- To publicize the Continuing Education and other Programs at Johnston Community for the purpose of assuring that
citizens in need of retraining, basic skills, and other services available at JCC are known and published on the Website.
- To participate in and promote the Johnston County Schools "Mentoring Matters" Program.
